Hello, and welcome to meganlouann! I’m happy to have you here.

A quick introduction: Hey guys! I’m Megan, and I’m a twenty-five year old grad student at the University of Cincinnati!

Allow me to piece together a bit of my history as succinctly as possible. A month before graduating with my B.S. in Biology, I realized that my real passion in life was education. No, it wasn’t some easy-peasy revelation that I came to, and for more on that, check out this post. Yes, I still graduated with that degree, but I quickly found my first teaching job and then completed a M.A. in Teaching program. I’ve taught Spanish, biology, and engineering, and I’ve worked as a special ed collaborator for a zoology class. I’ve taught students from K-12th grade, and I’ve taught at a Montessori school, two, small Catholic schools and a larger, public school.

My experiences on both sides of the classroom (i.e. teacher and student) have led me to my two passions: special education and academia. These things combined have brought me to my current role: a graduate student/assistant in the Special Education Ed.D program at UC. My biggest hopes and dreams after living out my doctoral experiences are to become an exceptional researcher and an exceptional professor in the special ed field.

I think it’s safe to say that my current situation and future dreams require me to be unapologetically ambitious, and I am returning to one of my favorite pastimes (i.e. writing, for fun!) as a positive outlet as I trek on this next leg of my journey.

With that, I leave you with this quote:

“I’m totally unapologetic about being an ambitious woman, and you should be, too.” —Shinjini Das

I thank you in advance for taking the time to read, and please feel free to leave any questions or comments for me below!

  1. Hey Megan!
While I’m not a college student right now, I LOVE to learn. Period. In fact, I actually like reading heavy stuff (e.g., textbooks, academic websites) for fun. In fact, it may be safe to say I am a polymath, namely, one who knows substantial knowledge across many disciplines. (Also known as a “Renaissance man”) From cradle to grave, learning is part and parcel of who I am. I have marked interests in the sciences, but since I am not partial to anything, and I really don’t see myself doing scientific research, I pretty much just learn for learning’s sake, hopefully with applications, wisdom and perhaps even advice that may come forth from that. Thus, I prefer self-learning to schooling overall. As a youngish man of 26, I have many years to invest. And to top things off, as a strong Christian believer, I strive to keep God in the picture in whatever I do, all to His glory. (And yes, I do thank God for the talent of self-learning.)

    Glad to meet you Megan!
