Hello, and welcome to meganlouann! I’m happy to have you here.
A quick introduction: Hey guys! I’m Megan, and I’m a twenty-five year old grad student at the University of Cincinnati!
Allow me to piece together a bit of my history as succinctly as possible. A month before graduating with my B.S. in Biology, I realized that my real passion in life was education. No, it wasn’t some easy-peasy revelation that I came to, and for more on that, check out this post. Yes, I still graduated with that degree, but I quickly found my first teaching job and then completed a M.A. in Teaching program. I’ve taught Spanish, biology, and engineering, and I’ve worked as a special ed collaborator for a zoology class. I’ve taught students from K-12th grade, and I’ve taught at a Montessori school, two, small Catholic schools and a larger, public school.
My experiences on both sides of the classroom (i.e. teacher and student) have led me to my two passions: special education and academia. These things combined have brought me to my current role: a graduate student/assistant in the Special Education Ed.D program at UC. My biggest hopes and dreams after living out my doctoral experiences are to become an exceptional researcher and an exceptional professor in the special ed field.
I think it’s safe to say that my current situation and future dreams require me to be unapologetically ambitious, and I am returning to one of my favorite pastimes (i.e. writing, for fun!) as a positive outlet as I trek on this next leg of my journey.
With that, I leave you with this quote:
“I’m totally unapologetic about being an ambitious woman, and you should be, too.” —Shinjini Das
